Managed by Kate Travers and Chris Carless, a highly-experienced chef and management team, The Imire Lodge offers welcoming family style hospitality, fine home cooking and spectacular game viewing. Imire Lodge offers both day trips and overnight stays. A day trip visit includes a full game drive and lunch served in the conservancy with a visit from the elephants or rhino as a highlight of the day. Overnight trips include feeding the rhino and elephant, followed by sundowners at the lookout and a gourmet three course dinner.
Special trips or longer stays for large groups and special occasions are welcomed upon request.

Imire Day Trip Itinerary
We suggest you bring sunscreen, hat and jacket – just in case. Please inform us of any dietary requirements when booking. In the unlikely event of bad weather lunch will be served at the lodge. The bill for all other beverages (excluding tea, coffee and cordial) must be settled separately at the end of the day.

ELEPHANT ENCOUNTER
Enjoy an up close and personal experience with our resident elephant herd. Begin your day with a steaming cup of coffee in the presence of these magnificent creatures. An opportunity to witness and learn first-hand about their behaviour and different personalities. This is followed by an intimate guided bush walk, following these gentle giants as they begin their day under gorgeous African Skies.
HORSEBACK SAFARI
Explore the vast savannah plains and miombo woodlands of Imire on horseback. Available to experienced riders, there is no better way to immerse yourself in Imire’s beauty and wildlife than on horseback safari. A perfect way to explore the un spoilt savannah and the game trails of the wildlife on horseback, where you become so much more aware of the environment and the humbling beauty of not only the landscapes, but riding alongside the herds of giraffe, zebra, the different antelope species, coming across the the endangered rhino,always a sacred moment… what a better way to witness Africa’s trails.
MAKWE CAVES TRIP
Explore this national monument and marvel at ancient rock art paintings that date back 2000 years. Imire is given privileged permission by the local chief to visit this monument. The proceeds of your visit benefit the surrounding community.
BIRDWATCHING WALK
Free for overnight guests. Enjoy a birding tour walking the conservancy with our knowledgeable guides. Imire is home to more than 150 different species of birdlife and is a bird lovers dream
FISHING
Our stunning dams are brimming with bream, bass and catfish. Cast from the shore or head out in one of our canoes. Relax by the shade of the reeds and wait for a bite.

We suggest you aim to arrive at either 9.30am or 3.00pm depending on which day you prefer to join our game drive.
Please note an overnight stay is 24 hours. An afternoon arrival itinerary will be the same as above, but will run from 16:00 to 15:30 the following day. Overnight stays include a delicious three course dinner, best enjoyed with a tasty bottle of South African wine. We put our heart and soul into our dishes – not to mention our tasty home grown vegetables and free range Imire beef. Enjoy a nightcap by the fire after dinner, with the option to wake up early and seize the opportunity to walk with the Imire rhino or elephant through the conservancy.

Chris and Kate - Executive Chefs and Management
Chris Carless and Kate Travers took over the running of Imire Lodge in February 2012 after working in London for some of the top event companies for a number of years. Both share a passion for good food, exceptional hospitality and the beauty of African bush. Both Chris and Kate are highly experienced chefs. Their aim at Imire Lodge is to provide healthy and delicious meals using home grown organic produce as far as possible.
Edmore Muchemwa – Guide
Edmore has worked at Imire since 2000. He began his career as a rhino handler and worked his way up the ranks to become a full time guide at Imire Lodge in 2005.
Daily game drives are Edmore’s favourite part of the job. “You are constantly adding to your knowledge, not only knowledge of animals and their behaviours, but also to your knowledge of people from all over the world!”
Anyway Chitosi – Guide
Anyway was born and bred on Imire. He worked closely with the buffalo, rhino and elephant during his career before being promoted to lodge guide in 2010. He is the in-house jester at Imire Lodge and is never short of jokes or laughs.
Anyway is highly knowledgeable about all of the wildlife on Imire, but his special talent is birding. “Birds are everywhere – whenever you think you are alone, there is always a bird with you.”
Mugove Chikanga – Reservations and Guest Relations
Mugove has worked at Imire Lodge since January 2006 manning all bookings and administration. Mugove is always ready to help out with a warm smile and welcoming manner.

The housekeeping, grounds and waitstaff are of course an asset to the Imire Lodge. Always ready to lend a hand, these behind the scenes individuals are the people that make your stay so comfortable and relaxing!
